In the Unteren Dorfstraße of Zeilitzheim, the Mößlein family has been running its winegrowing business for many generations. In 2008, they finally decided to demolish the older farm buildings of the three-sided farm, which were not very functional and had become unusable. Their plan was to have a new vinotheque with an event hall built above the narrow plot of land which extends far into the depths of the farmyard. Almost a whole year was allowed for the planning, because good things take time. After another year of construction, the vinotheque was opened in August 2010.
The building itself avoids grand gestures, but fits confidently into the ensemble on Untere Dorfstraße. Its cubature follows the guidelines for re-densification in the village's inner area, and it is finished with a clay-colored wattle-and-daub plaster that is quite artistic but does not make a loud noise. In the freely accessible entrance area of the courtyard, the glazed entrance to the wine bar was placed across the corner; staircase, utility rooms and whiskey distillery are adjacent. On the upper floor, the hall extends the full depth of the building and in height to below the roof ridge. Although the window sills are only base-high, there is no sense of confinement or oppression on this cleverly constructed mezzanine floor. The furniture in the wine bar is made of high-quality materials and the lime-colored counter stands slim and fresh in the room. As a guest, you would almost think it was a symbol of the "new Franconia" line of wines from the Mößlein winery. These wines are light and fruity, according to winemakers Reiner and Martin Mößlein. It goes without saying that the lines "the classic Franconians", "Selection M" and "Grand M" also suit the winery well and inspire and delight the connoisseur.
