Weingut Juliusspital

Weingut Juliusspital (Würzburg, Fränkisches Weinland)

With 177 hectares of vineyards, the Juliusspital in Würzburg is the second largest winery in Germany. For more than 435 years, the proceeds from winegrowing have helped finance social tasks. After all, one million bottles of wine are produced by the winery every year. "With passion and dedication since time immemorial" is the motto of the employees and the founder. After all, the humane hospitality that the Juliusspital signals, or the philanthropic help for the elderly, those in need of care and the sick, all result from Christian roots. The legacy of the founder is thus preserved, but vinification moves with the times - and of course so does marketing and branding. Just recently, they have completed a relaunch in labels and initiated the return of the German Schlegel bottle.

The vinotheque "Weineck Julius Echter" and the wooden barrel cellar under the Fürstenbau of the Juliusspital show the journey of experiencing and tasting wine. The philosophy behind this is in a nutshell: quality before quantity. This creates trust right from the start. The new "Wine.World" at the Juliusspital begins right outside the door with a small vine garden at the Anatomie Pavilion. This is followed by the spectacular staging of a cellar tour, the likes of which have never been seen before in Franconia. All the senses of the visitor are to be directed, mesmerized and excited, to the installations with writing, light and sound, which help to lift and stage the treasure of the history of this foundation. A wine journey was choreographed by a project team from the hospital together with interior designer Reinhard May, featuring alliterations such as "Grapes.Technology.Drive." or "Gentle.Sense.Care." Visitors take in the branding message in a pleasant ambience and later recall it subconsciously when they have a choice between many high-quality wines. Confidence in the ideal values which the Juliusspital has always stood for is combined with confidence in the quality of the wines from this foundation estate.
