Vinothek Iphofen (Iphofen, Fränkisches Weinland)

The Vinothek Iphofen comprises 18 Iphofen vintners. Since September 2000, they have had a joint showroom, a Vinothek, in a prominent location in the town center. Without leaving the Vinothek, guests can tour all Iphofen vineyards there. Several impressively preserved or newly furnished rooms are available for events in the baroque, small sacristan's house and the filigree glass pavilion. The vaulted cellar or the stucco parlor can accommodate groups of guests who prefer a more intimate setting. In the new glass house, the large function room can be prepared to entertain up to 60 people. Wine gastronomy and wine enjoyment create a special experience in this timelessly beautiful ensemble of old and new.

A total of 600 square meters (6500 square feet) of usable space is available for the most diverse requirements within the carefully restored building. On the upper floors of the architectural monument, the half-timbering has been exposed. Mezzanines and bridges accompany the walls, which are structurally supported with steel girders where necessary. In this way, sophisticated exhibition spaces have been created which are appreciated by professionals and amateurs alike. The new building, braced by a rubble stone wall, is designed as a post-and-beam construction. Together with the preserved architectural monument, it gives support and an intimate character to a small courtyard delimited from the church square. The monopitch roof over the new building, which slopes up towards the baroque town hall palazzo, evokes a baroque orangery building with a sun catcher above. The roof form of the existing building was not just simply and carelessly adopted in the new building. This subtle originality in dealing with the existing structure is what still distinguishes the Vinothek of the town of Iphofen today. This originality is also what made the project a beacon of vinotheque architecture soon after its completion.
