From stone to wine: Great terroir, great wines and a great view come together at terroir f in Randersacker. The majestic Sonnenstuhl tower, popularly known as the "potato tower," is where everyone is headed. It stands out strikingly from the landscape and the location of Randersackerer Sonnenstuhl. The tower has a checkered history - but discovery at this magical place goes back much further. The Franconian Triassic - consisting of red sandstone, shell limestone and Keuper - is probably the most important epoch in the history of the earth for Franconian viticulture and presented here in an exciting way. Thus, this terroir f centered around the topic of wine geology makes visible what lies hidden in the soil, but can be tasted with every glass of Franconian wine.
Incidentally, the potato tower itself was also built of shell limestone. It is therefore representative of the many churches, wayside shrines and wine growers' houses in Franconia's wine country which were built from this native stone.
